First Day in Seoul pt.2
Wakey time, Internet cafe, SangDo, Seoul
Got to walk around the area today. I start work tomorrow, so I wanted to buy some shit for my place, groceries etc. I headed south for 2 small blocks, and I'm at the main street (I pass this internet cafe on my way). I turn left (East) and walk on the south side of the street up a not-very-steep hill. Seoul is a combination of both crazy tall buildings and very small ones. Kind of like a soccer ball; the short building being the white part, and the tall ones the black.
It's crazy how many stores etc they can fit into the smallest spots. Every building has some sort of retail in it... on all accesible sides. So one face of a building will have say 3 stories, and each story will have a new business every 20 feet or so. So one FACE of a building may have 8, 10, 12 different companies within 3 floors!
I walk up the hill and come up on 'Heightsville', a huge group of buildings (think Parkway Forest in Willowdale styles). Since it's on a hill, it seems CCCRRRAZZZZYYY high!!! Like a huge apartment fortress overlooking the SangDo province. I will attach a pic as I get a camera.
I proceed to buy 3800 W bottle of water ($4.40!) and other too expensive stuff and head home, after passing the entrance to the SoongSil University, and the SoongSil U. Subway Station.
No westerners or non-Koreans in my turf. I only know how to say 'standard greeting-good for all times' and 'thank you'. Shit, I can't remember how I eat this night.
