My Job pt.1!

The people have been requesting it, so I'm bowing to the pressure and including a post on my job. I teach at Hagwon Oedae, a smallish english academy in south-west Seoul. It's logo asserts that it's connected to one of the (many) universities in Korea, but I have yet to see any indication that this is true (besides the logo - Smartass). I have included a picture of my boss, Mr. Phillip Sohn; he's the guy who runs the day-to-day operations. He is not Mr. Ee (Koreans don't really have the name Lee, I've been told, I'm not sure why they use it with westerners. BTW Park is also a westernization as there is no Park name here, only Pak.), who is the financial backer for the school. Sohn's school used to be a few blocks away, but then he made a deal with Ee and they started up the Oedae school at the current location. Ee's wife is the administrator at the school. I think she was at the old school, and I imagine this is where the two Mr.'s met.
Ee's wife is pictured in the another pic, along with Mike, my american head teacher, and Nicole my american co-teacher. Mike is a cool guy, laid back, no stress type dude. We both live in the area and sometimes we grab a few beers after work. I think we are famous in the area as the westerners who represent. Nicole also lives in the area but she most certainly does not. She doesn't drink and won't come out even for a coke. We've called her many a time but she seems intent on avoiding Korea as much as possible while in Korea.

The next pic is of Gina, the other administrator. She is very nice, though a little shy. I'm not sure why, but everything I say makes her laugh. Actually, that is very common here. I don't know if it's cause I'm cute, or because I speak too quickly in english, or because there is something fucked up that I haven't thought of, but some women here just laugh when I speak to them.
The kids in the pic are some of my favorite kids, they are from a late afternoon class on Monday and Wednesday. They are very smart and fun. Unfortunately, due to summer vacation, more than half of this class do not attend right now. I hope they return after the break.
I will post later with views from the roof, including the infamous (!), the 63 building. The tallest building in Korea!!!

KyungPoDai Beach City!

After wrangling for with my boss to ensure my five day week off, Gisella and I managed to get away to the east coast of Korea. The bus from Seoul takes 3 hours and leaves at 3pm on the DOT. It drops you off in GangNeung the biggest city in northeast Korea (200, 000 people), and from there a 6000 won cab ride takes you to the beach, and like 30 ho and motels.
