Korea lost, Mexico lost, 2 pics. 1 Korea pic!

Sunday afternoon, 4:30pm.
Working all night, graded some tests, wrote report cards. Reviewed songs. Tested the potency of Soju... (turns out THERE IS liquor in the stuff!), talked on MSN. Shit all really... Korea lost the game Friday night. We were in ShinChon. Big foreigner bar called The Bar. Well actually, it's not called the bar, but no one knows it's name, and the sign for the spot above it (Seoul style crowding) reads 'the bar'. Mixed crowd that night, alot of Koreans, alot of US, alot of CAN... others too. Sometimish cheering man... not steady, not consistent. I was the strongest cheerer and I'm not even full Korean!!! The game started at 4, we headed home at 6am. Actually, me and Joon found a really nice 'bottle bar' a couple blocks away. A bottle bar is a bar where they serve bottles of beer, I think usually it's 'o-beks' (literally 500cc of beer, from the tap), so this was the first time I had seen a Bud since arriving! That kid Joon likes Stella so he was happy. His friend Eun-Sung didn't care, so she was happy. Nice couches, big tv, good crowd... We would have stayed, but american mike was all about the bar. so...

Got some pics from Big Glish last night, so I'll attach one or two... also, Joon sent me some pics from the time we went to City Hall. The big gate is called NamDaeMun. It's the southwest gate of the old city of Seoul. Pretty big, especially for those times.
Oh, the TO pic is from Tasty's on Bloor, my last night in TO. Royce Gracie got finished by Matt Whatever. Too bad, I wanted Gracie to win. Old School.
Maybe I'll go to NamdaeMun market later, check out the town...

Tai Han Min Guk!!! and Boogie Last Night pic

It's 12:53 i'm bout to go downtown to chill with some peoples, and later to watch the Korea soccer game (starts at 4am). Should be a wild night. If there is a god Korea will advance, and tonight will be one of the greatest party nights of my life (MONDAY (!) morning at 4am there were 800, 000 people partying downtown!!!!!!) That was Monday!!!! They still had to go to work!!!! We could double that!!! or more!!! This could bigger than that really big Caribana a few years ago! No real plan, going to meet this kid and some girl he's bringing, and later to meet the American crew at one of the underground bars, sorry CAVERNS, they have in ShinChon area.
No pic today, unless... let me check.... Good Googly Moogly.
Okay, here's another one from Boogie's Last Night.
You know who you are... Boogie hamming, Plaza Bulls style.
Big up Big D, J, Jynx, SOL, Richie Rich, Glish, Brownie, Gary G, Dutch, Rohan the Rock, Big Dwayne and all the ladies who helped us enjoy that night.
Ps I was just kidding about god... if there is a god that is.

Horrible corporate ad/No re bang.

Isn't this picture horrible? I found this for maybe MSN's fathers day ads. Who is this guy?! Would you want your fuckin son to be standing in front of you with this shit? He'd be like 'Hi dad! You look freakin fabulous!' and you'd be like 'Get away from me you fuck'. He'd be like 'I brought you some EXCELLENT presents!!!!' and you'd say 'Did you wrap those?...'. And he'd start saying 'why yes,... ' and you'd cut him off with 'and how are you carrying those fucking things? why don't you just stack them like regular people for chris' sakes'. Who are these corporate effluences who make this sickening, nasty stuff? Look at the picture again... who approved this shit? Fire them.

Amongst other places (Macondo Salsa Bar, Itaewon [foreigner centre of Seoul], Apkucheong [bougie bar area]), I went to No Re Bang this past weekend. For those who aren't Korean, NOREBANG is KARAOKE!!!!! Me and this kid Big Joon went to meet this salsa dancer I met online, and we all met up at this bar. We were already nice and she and her PNC left around maybe 4am. We stayed at the bar until 5 or so, hit another one on the way to the main street [fucked up side note: nobody follows streets here. I don't know the name of a SINGLE street here! Not one, man! You use landmarks and meet up close to the spot here!], and then Joon says he wants to find a Norebang. I had been hating on the idea since I got here (they're everywhere near where people drink), but that night the frosty's had me. We go down this funhouse looking staircase and into a basement which has been decorated to look like a dragon's lair! Kind of like Alien. Then we go to our little room, complete with a song book, TWO (!) microphones, and snacks and beer, oh yeah and a massive system. Some of you have heard me singing drunk before, rapping drunk before etc. It's not pretty (pretty tight though). But this night, on this momentous night, this night of new experiences and new friends... it was no different. I felt like I was on the outside listening to myself (the massive system I guess), and I'm ridiculous man!
We massacred many a classic, including: Can't touch this, September (EWF), My Way (Frankie Baby), others. I think I clued in to just how bad we were when I went to the can. Coming back I could hear some horrible sound. Some terrible shrieking coming from the vicinity of our room. It was Joon. And he was around the same quality as me.
Put it like this: when you sing really well, the 'house' will comp you minutes. They took ours away. For real. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Thoughts on soccer

2:45 Thurs night, watching England vs Trinidad
A couple of thoughts about soccer.
I've realized for what concrete reasons soccer sucks. You've known that for a long time, but you haven't been able to put your finger on why, why does soccer suck so heavy?
First of all, once you start watching you can't stop. Not because it's cool, or interesting, or captivating, but because after you've put in like 10-15 minutes, you can't retreat! You've put in too much, come too far to go back. If you go take a piss, or even change the channel, you're admitting that you've both: wasted 20 fuckin minutes of your life, and, been defeated.
Also soccer sucks because they're big pussies. They fall and cry at the slightest bump. Most of the time they haven't even been hit!
ps England has just won 2-0. The whole second half Trinidad was just playing defence.
pps One cool thing about watching soccer in a place where you don't understand the language is, you can basically 'watch' the game by working or reading, and when you hear the announcers get loud, you look up! I've gotten alot of work done watching soccer that way. Actually it may even increase productivity since I feel like I'm getting away with something.

First Real Entry/Background/Intro/BBW

Okay so this entry is very, very long in coming. Mostly because of my ethical issues in making a blog. Many of you know that I usually send ridiculously funny emails when out of town (OT), but I have never a) made them open to any other than that chosen few, and b) never allowed my mom to see me write 'pussy'. Oh yeah, and blog is a gay word (not gay like homo, just gay like you know what I mean).
SO, in order to align my behaviour with my beliefs, I will not be writing a 'blog'. I am not sure what the official name of these entries will be. I will be accepting suggestions, but in the interim it will go under the name of Boogie's Big Words, or BBW.

Thoughts 1:30 AM, Wednesday June 14, Watching Tunisia vs Saudi Arabia game.
Okay, It must suck being a goalie. You have like 10 dudes hellbent on scoring on you. You can stop 50 shots, but let ONE miserable goal in and... loser. I prefer to be a scorer thank you. Maybe a wing man (or whatever they call them). I miss one or two and it's no biggie. Plus you get more pussy.
After thought: if you want to prove that I'm right, think of all the soccer players you know. Now which one of them is a goalie? None, toughguy. Not one.

I want to figure out how to go back and put in an entry for each day I've been here in lovely Seoul, Korea. I'll look into it.

Peace out,
b.

Ps This pic is to demonstrate the chaos and bachannalia on Boogie's last night in T.O. It only went downhill from here. Big up J for the pic.

Okay this is late

Okay this is a late entry. The truth is that I'm doing this on Friday late night (3:15am), and I'm not eve sure if the thing's I entered in the korean blanks are correct. I will try to put this through, and, if it works, I will do it again. By the way, a guy right beside me just spit a big loogie into his ashtray. Here in Korea they wet their ashtrays, it's actually pretty cool since it results in no extra smoke once you butt a cigarette.

First Work Day/Post-game Wrap-up

First Work Day
This was my first work day. It fuckin sucked. I had NO training, no guidance (ok a little, from American Mike) and basically just got thrown face first into a pile of shitheads. Little bastards. My first class (I found out later) was basically the juvy hall of my school. All the worst kids in one spot. I almost knocked one kid out (Eric for further referrence, I'm sure it will come up again). The room numbers were wrong, the books were wrong, some of the classes I didn't even have books. [ed. note - sometimes even NOW the classes numbers are wrong, and there are not enough teacher copies. Even now I sometimes borrow from the students.] The work was very, very intense... the whole day felt like an eternity. When it was done, it felt like it flashed by. Maybe like life... any old people who would like to comment, feel free to do so.
I think this is the first day that I ate at Q restaurant. Really good, cheap food. Really good. This day I have pork and veggies with rice. Great PanChan (side dishes).
ps In real time (Thursday June 15). I don't know if it's because of korean styles, or because it's a soccer sportscast, but the announcers on the soccer station MBC are fuckin nerds. There's one blazing young honey, and two complete dufuses. Seriously man. I don't know if feminine is the right word, but if it isn't, then the right word is a swear word (rhymes with snitch-bass).
